 Electrical Control Systems Technologist

Nature of Work

This position reports directly to the President. The Electrical Control Systems Technologist will design, develop, build and supervise the manufacture, installation, and operation of electrical control systems.

Experience

  • Experience in the field of electrical control systems;
  • PLC programming experience;
  • Diploma of Technology in Electrical and Electronics (preferably in Automation and Instrumentation);
  • Experience creating P&IDs, loop drawings, electrical schematics, and logic drawings, ISA Standards.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of installing electrical components and wiring in computer controlled control panels;
  • Thorough knowledge of quality assurance processes an asset;
  • Thorough knowledge of CSA Standards;
  • Thorough knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code;
  • Ability to read electrical schematic drawings;
  • Demonstrated ability to gather, interpret and analyze technical information in order to verify conclusions and provide advice and recommendations;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently;
  • Demonstrated ability using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electric;
  • Superior written and oral communication skills; presentation skills and interpersonal skills;
  • Exceptional project management and coordination skills;
  • Excellent evaluation and negotiations skills;
  • Advanced keyboarding skills;
  • Demonstrated team player with seasoned leadership and management skills;
  • Ability to positively present the company’s position on project requirements in technical meetings;
  • Ability to develop complex project plans and to meet project deadlines and financial targets;
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and produce results with limited human and financial resources;
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with groups and individuals with diverse or competing interests or diverse perspectives;
  • Ability to provide concise and accurate information orally and in writing, including reports, presentations and correspondence;
  • Ability to exercise tact, judgment, discretion, confidentiality and flexibility in project delivery.
