Control Systems Technician

We are currently recruiting for a Control Systems Technician to work as part of our Engineering and Production team. As a technical expert you will construct, test, and document the manufacture of industrial electrical control systems and panels.  You are also responsible for installing, commissioning, troubleshooting and servicing the panels on an as required basis. The following is a list of duties and qualifications for this position:

Education and Experience

  • Technology Diploma in Instrumentation and Controls or other relevant area and a minimum 3 years of current and directly related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in PLC wiring, installation and programming
  • Demonstrated experience in electrical control panel layout and wiring
  • Demonstrated experience in assembly, testing, troubleshooting and repair of industrial control panels
  • Valid BC Drivers’ License

Knowledge

  • Thorough knowledge of installing electrical components and wiring in computer controlled control panels
  • Knowledge of quality assurance processes an asset
  • Knowledge of CSA Standards
  • Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code

Abilities

  • Ability to read electrical schematic drawings
  • Demonstrated ability to gather, interpret and analyze technical information in order to verify conclusions and provide advice and recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, and manage the workload within time and resource constraints
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing, in a manner appropriate for the circumstances
  • Ability to prepare panel layouts and wiring schematics using AutoCAD
  • Ability to prepare drawings and specifications
  • Ability to prepare quotes
  • Ability to develop and maintain respectful, productive and co-operative working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, customers and vendors
  • Ability to exercise tact, judgment, discretion, confidentiality and flexibility in day to day work environment
  • Ability to ensure professional and courteous service at all times
