Electrical Engineer (PEng)

MPC Consulting is currently recruiting for Electrical Engineers with their PEng designation to design, develop, build and supervise the manufacture, installation, and operation of electrical control systems. Please email resumes to [email protected]

Nature of Work

This position reports directly to the President. The Electrical Engineer will design, develop, build and supervise the manufacture, installation, and operation of electrical control systems. Additionally, they will provide engineering expertise in areas such as PLC’s, SCADA, MCC’s, motors, VFD, and Instrumentation. 

Experience

  • PEng designation
  • Experience in the field of electrical engineering;
  • Project management experience;
  • Experience supervising project construction;
  • Experience specifying instrumentation
  • Experience programming PLC's, HMI's
  • Experience preparing quotes
  • Registered or eligible for registration with APEGBC.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of CSA Standards;
  • Thorough knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code;
  • Thorough knowledge of project management skills;
  • Superior written and oral communication skills; presentation skills and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent command of the English language;
  • Superior evaluation and negotiations skills;
  • Advanced keyboarding skills;
  • Ability to specify and procure items such as PLC’s, SCADA, MCC’s, motors, VFD and Instrumentation;
  • Ability to create single line drawings, wire schematics using AutoCad or AutoCAD Electric;
  • Ability to create tender packages and prepare quotes;
  • Ability to read electrical schematic drawings;
  • Demonstrated ability to gather, interpret and analyze technical information in order to verify conclusions and provide advice and recommendations;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently;
  • Demonstrated team player with seasoned leadership and management skills;
  • Ability to positively present the company’s position on project requirements in technical meetings;
  • Ability to develop complex project plans and to meet project deadlines and financial targets;
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and produce results with limited human and financial resources;
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with groups and individuals with diverse or competing interests or diverse perspectives;
  • Ability to provide concise and accurate information orally and in writing, including reports, presentations and correspondence; and
  • Ability to exercise tact, judgment, discretion, confidentiality and flexibility in project delivery.
